JUNGLE FUN!

Hello Song: "If You'd Like to Hear a Book" (Tune: "If You're Happy and You Know It")
If you want me to read a book, clap your hands.

If you want me to read a book, clap your hands.
If you want me to read a book, listen up and take a look.

If you want me to read a book, clap your hands.
(Stomp your feet; sit so still)

Book: Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae
Giraffes can't dance
This is a favorite in my house as it should be because it is a fun, rhyming, story with a sweet message.

Rhyme/Song:I'm a big tall giraffe stretching way up high (reach arms up over head)
A big tall giraffe, I almost reach the sky (reaching on tiptoes)
I eat the leaves from the tallest trees (pretend to eat)
And when I run, I move with ease (pretend to run)
I'm a big tall giraffe stretching way up high (reach arms up over head)

Way...Up...High! (reaching on tiptoes)

Book: The Bird, the Monkey, and the Snake in the Jungle by Kate Banks

This is a rebus book so I had the children help read the story using the pictures.

Flannel Board: "I Went to the Jungle One Day" (Tune: "London Bridge")
I went to the jungle one day, jungle one day, jungle one day.
I saw a lion on the way
And this is what he said, "ROAR!"
(other animals: snake, monkey, elephant, etc.)

It's time to say goodbye to all my friends (clapclap)
Storytime is done today (wave goodbye)
So come again another day
